Bein' Silly in His New Swimming Pool!

Chillin' in the Pool!

So silly!

Hey mom! Watch this!

Kenden was so excited to see the new pool I got for him! He loves to hold his breath, put his head under, and tell me he's swimming! I think I have a fish on my hands! Daddy has to find a way to rig the slide though, because I did not notice when I bought it that the plastic rails that hold the slide section up were broken, so poor Kenden can't even slide down! Guess that is another job on the "Honey-Do" list!

Kenden and Mommy Visit the Buyalos Family in the OBX! BB&G, Here We Come!

Every year, the Buyalos Family takes their annual trip to the Outer Banks for their family vacation. I love being with them and catching up, making new memories, and just hanging out! My Best Friend's son, Michael, is only 4 months younger than Kenden and they had a ball together! They played in the rain and in the sand, just having loads of fun! It was wonderful to see my extended "Buyalos Family" and I am looking forward to seeing Mary, Michael and Rachel during our OBX vacation this year!
Braving the ominous looking weather and heading to the beach! We were trying to beat the rain, but it followed us there. The kids didn't care, they just played in the sand and rain!

The Binky Fairy Visits the Turner Household...

For a very long time, we've been wanting to help Kenden rid himself of the ugly little habit we helped him start...the pacifier. We'd heard nightmare stories of how friends' kids had resisted, gotten helpful hints on how to have him wean off of it....for some reason, we'd held out for a long time (okay, *I* held out...hard to admit your baby is growing up!). I've been telling Kenden for a very long time about the Binky Fairy, and how she comes and picks up all a kid's old binkies, leaves them a cool new toy, and takes the binkies to all the new babies in the hospital! For a long time, he wasn't buying it. He'd see a cool toy, I'd mention the binky fairy, and he'd say, "No, I'll wait for Santa." Smart kid.

It is pretty common knowledge that Kenden is just short of obsessed with Transformers...so when this new Transformers 2 movie was due to come out, of course a ton of new Transformers toys were released. He had his eye on the new Bumblebee Cannon Arm, and so I re-explained to him about the binky fairy, and how she waits for when the kid is ready, and doesn't take he binkies until they are, so it was his choice. Once he decided, I told him, mommy and daddy would tell the fairy to come.

He must have thought on this good and hard...Jeff and I went to a concert that night, and when we came back, our sitter Brianna told us that he'd been pretty upset at bedtime, which wasn't normal, but we all chalked it up to him being tired. Jeff asked him the next morning why he'd been upset and he said it was because he'd wanted to have the Binky Fairy come that night!

So, the deed was done...we allowed him to go to bed with one binky, but told him when he woke up, the last binky would be gone, but he'd have his new stuff in its place....so here he is with his treasure! A tear-free transition to a binky-free life! He only asked for his binky one time after this....but now he brags about what a big boy he is now!

Daddy's 34th Birthday! Happy Birthday Da-da!!

Kenden was so excited about his Daddy's birthday! We went shopping together and got Da-da some new gym clothes and a new grill for outside! To celebrate, we went and I let Kenden pick out some balloons for his Daddy....2 Transformers balloons and a Happy Birthday one! We even went all out and got Transformer plates and napkins for the ice cream cake! What a great birthday for Jeff!
Daddy checking out his super cool Transformer birthday balloons that Kenden picked out for him! I bet he didn't know he'd be having a Transformers themed party on his 34th birthday! Complete with Transformer plates and napkins....

Our Neighbors Come for a Visit!

Our old neighbors, the Olszaks, who lived across the street from us and moved away nearly a year ago, came back to Va. Beach for their summer vacation, and to check on their house and prepare it for rental. I am so glad they were able to squeeze in a visit during their vacation! Kenden was so very excited to see his old buddy Gabe and his sister Sophia! We got together for a playdate here at our house and the boys played together as if they'd never been apart....we sure do miss our old friends, but we were so very glad to have time with them while they were here!

Kenden's New Big Boy Bed!

Well, as you can see from the pictures, Kenden's met another major milestone...we have transitioned him into his very own big boy bed! Awhile back, we took the front off of his crib and made it into a toddler bed, but we thought that with vacation coming this summer, and the fact that he is clearly WAY too big for a pack and play, that it was about time to tackle the transition into a real bed. So A-Bed-Hunting we went...off to Haynes Furniture. This super cool clubhouse bed was the first one we laid eyes on, and it was the one we all fell in love with from the get-go! Not only is it a bed, but there are 2 secret trap doors: One accesses the top clubhouse part, the other is in the clubhouse and has access to the area behind the actual bed, on the floor! Needless to say, Jeff and I had to set some ground rules (no climbing in the clubhouse during sleep time), and when we felt Kenden understood this, we were sold on the bed. Kenden has done wonderfully in his new bed. We are very proud of him. Now, to tackle getting rid of the infamous binky....one thing at a time....
