Let the Decorating BEGIN!
Earlier than ever, Jeff and I began decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. We started and finished the majority of it over the course of the 3 day weekend! Here are pics of the first 2 trees I decorate, along with the cute, fake dog in our den!

Thanksgiving Day 2008 at the Turner's House!
We had a fabulous Thanksgiving this year! We missed having Scott, Suellen, Kristen and Brandon with us though. I am sure they had a wonderful time with Suellen's family in Hopewell. All the other "regulars" joined us for food, fun and fellowship. We have so much to be thankful for this year...our health, and Tim and Carrie's healthy baby boy due in April....along with numerous other things. Here's to another year full of things to be thankful for....
Amanda, Michael, Nanny, Ashley, Tim and Carrie eating at the kitchen table!

Vickie, Bart, Jeff, Kenden, Grammie and Papa at the dining room table (Mommy ate here, too!)

Kenden stuffing his face!

Ridin' High on Cousin Michael' shoulders!

Jeff is telling Carrie the infamous "Where's the Cereal Milk" story...HILARIOUS!

Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Kenden's preschool today! Da-da was not able to be there because of work, but Kenden and I sure enjoyed each other's company, as well as the company of his classmates. The only food Kenden was interested in was the chicken nuggets of course! No mashed potatoes for this kid! We had a wonderful time!

Mini-Salesman...
Tonight in the den, we were waiting patiently for Da-da to come home from work/gym, watching Curious George and talking about toys. Here's how a bit of our conversation went:
Kenden: "Mama, it sure is taking Da-da a long time to get home."
Me: "Yes honey, I know, he'll be home soon, but Da-da sure does work hard so we can have nice things, doesn't he?"
Kenden: "Ya know what mom, Money Never Sleeps!"
Okay, I seriously thought I was going to both fall off the couch and pee my pants! He is TRULY his father's child!

3 Year Old Well-Baby Checkup!
I took him for his checkup today...he is great! He weighed 36 pounds and was 39 inches, so he's in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. Dr. Feldman said we need to start getting ready to get rid of the binky altogether, so I have been talking to stinkpot about the "Binky Fairy" coming to get his binkys and leaving him a toy. Not sure when we'll do that, but now that he's not sick, probably soon. Kenden was not happy to hear this news from Dr. Feldman and I seriously thought he was going to start crying right there in the exam room when he heard the news. Dr. Feldman said, "But binkys are for babies and you are big boy", to which Kenden responded without missing a beat, "I'm not a big boy, I am a small boy!" I thought Dr. Feldman and I were both going to fall out laughing. He also said to go ahead and get him into the dentist for a checkup. He only had to get one shot, the flu shot....he only let out a yell and was more mad that he had to wear a band-aid...I had to promise to remove that as soon as we got home. I am so glad I made the appointment at 8:30 this morning. By the time he and I were walking out, the waiting room was FULL. I don't think I have ever seen it so full. I guess it is the season for sick....ugh. Luckily, Kenden is finally getting better from the sinus infection he had a couple weeks ago, and hopefully he didn't pick up any form of crud today as we made our way through the waiting room!

Following in His Father's Footsteps...
The following is an email that I sent out to some family and friends about some of Kenden's antics at school on Friday. I was aggravated when I wrote it, but rereading it, it is really quite funny!
I could tell Kenden was going to be a handful for school today. It doesn't help that I am sick with something and feel like crap and have no patience for him. Either way, he was in rare form. So, when I picked him up today, I was surprised to hear him say, "I got a good note", because the way he'd been acting here, yeah, right. I was right. He was lying. He was so naughty he got sent to the principal's (directors) office. How the heck do you get sent to the principal's office at 3 years old??!! Apparently he was "tackling" the girls in class, running in the classroom, etc. He'd already gotten a bad note Wednesday and so we'd had this long talk on the way to school to remind him of what is expected of him. So, needless to say, I am "ticked" at him. And don't have the energy to deal with it (I came home after dropping him off today and slept on the couch).
I let him have it, right there in the school (not spanking!), but just telling him how disappointed I was, how much trouble he was in....no TV in the car, no lollipop on the way home, and no TV at all tonight. I also took the toys out of his bed....so many issues and I could go on and on. He has also taken to getting out of his bed the last couple of days. New problem....he thinks if he's awake, he might as well have some fun, even if that fun happens at 2:30am. So he is not sleeping good at night still b/c of the cold (and late night parties). And Jeff is out of town. Fun times.
The other issue I think I am going to have to take up with the teacher is the fact that she tends to address this stuff in the presence of other parents. She was trying to tell me all this today in front of another mom, while holding that mom's baby so the mom could pull something out of her purse! WHAT?! She totally should have pulled me aside and spoken to me.
Kenden is in bed now, not sleeping, but in bed. I have taken all the toys out of his bed and out of his room for that matter....literally, I put the big blue basket in the fish bedroom, along with his puzzles (since he was out of his bed last night and piling them into his bed one by one...I heard them crashing into the bed when I THOUGHT he was asleep....). And to top it all off, I was hoping to put a movie in for him tonight since I don't feel good, but now I can't do that b/c he is on punishment. So, now when I get him up, I have to "deal" with him and I feel like crap. More fun times.
I guess I really did give birth to a little Jeff....
