Virginia Zoo!

Kenden and Blake

Giraffes

Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!

You put your left butt cheek in, you put your left butt cheek out...

Kenden visited the Virginia Zoo for the first time on Tuesday with his buddy, Baby Blake, and Kelly (Blake's mom)! The 4 of us had a fantastic time looking at all the animals, having a picnic under the trees (even though Kenden didn't eat), and playing in the huge water spouts in the front entrance of the zoo. The funny thing is, neither boy seemed very interested in the animals....they liked running from their mothers instead! And they both seemed to enjoy the water spouts more than the animals as well.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, in particular Jeff and my own Dad (aka "Papa")! First off, Jeff, you are an amazing dad to Kenden and a wonderful husband to me. He and I are both so blessed to have you in our lives! Kenden has so much fun with you and I am looking forward to watching your relationship with him grow and change in the years to come. The type of dad you are Jeff, is a true testament to the wonderful dad YOU had in your life, and I know he is looking down on you with Kenden and smiling~I know he'd be proud of you. I do wish he could be here to see you with Kenden...I can hear him laughing at the two of you together...I miss him today on Father's Day, as I know you do as well....

And to my dad, Papa to Kenden...I know that I couldn't have asked for a better dad myself! I have learned from you to analyze situations and try to make the best of things~to see the silver lining in the clouds! You taught me that what is right isn't always what is popular and to stand up for the little guy...and if I remember your exact words correctly, "It only takes a minute to lose your reputation, and a LOT longer to get it back"! I hope to impart some of this wisdom and and all the other stuff I am leaving out to Kenden. Just as I am blessed to have you as a dad, he is just as blessed to have you as a Grandad!

Sprinkler Fun!

After nap time on Saturday, Kenden took a trip to the Home Depot with Da-da to help him get new sprinkler heads. When they got back, Kenden announced that he wanted to play outside, so Jeff took him out while he repaired a few of the sprinkler heads. He had to test them, so he walked into the garage to turn the sprinklers on, and before he knew it, Kenden was in the yard, running through the water, fully clothed and soaking wet! I was getting a drink inside, and this is what I saw when I walked out the door....

Eventually, Kenden decided that the shorts needed to go (since they were so wet they were falling off anyway) and off they went...the shirt also worked its way off as well, and we were down to diapers and tennis shoes! These are great pics to show the future girlfriends....

Wanna Go for a Dip Anyone??

Here's the background on this story....the other night, I believe Friday night, Jeff came home and when he went outside, he noticed that our pond looked as if it had been "disturbed". The fountain was knocked over, rocks were moved, and some of the water plants were messed up. Since he'd just put 3 fish into the pond the night before, we decided that it must have been a raccoon trying to get the fish and eat them. Jeff talked to the guy who does the maintenance on our 2 saltwater tanks and he also said it had to be a raccoon. This little event was all I heard about after Jeff found it because he was convinced our little fish were doomed...and he was mad that he had to get in the pond and readjust everything that was helter-skelter.

So, we are out in the backyard yesterday with Justin and Jenny, grilling on the grill, and Jeff runs into the house to get me (I was grabbing my sunglasses), and says to me, "You gotta come out here! I think it was Kaz who messed the pond up!" I said, "Why, what is he doing?" and Jeff said, "He's out here now with his front paws in, and he's pawing at the water. I really think he is going to get in". So out I come, because if this dog jumps in, I gotta see this, AND we don't even know if the crazy dog can swim (our boxer Magnus couldn't, and neither can Lulu our bulldog). No sooner do I come outside than Kaz runs around to the opposite side of the pond, puts his front 2 paws in, then pushes off and starts SWIMMING in the pond! We were all laughing hysterically! He swam through the deep side, then came to the shallow side and just stood there, giving me enough time to grab the camera! What a goon! Needless to say, we now know that the pond destroying culprit is NOT a raccoon...it is a Dogue De Bordeaux who is hot and just wanted to cool down!
